The Simpsons Makes Its Debut in Psyonix's Hit Game: But It's Not the Vehicle Fans Are Dreaming Of

It was previously announced that The Simpsons was teaming up with Epic Games' battle royale, but that's not the only place where enthusiasts can immerse themselves in the universe of Springfield. The beloved show is coming over to the popular soccer-driving hybrid, bringing along an in-game car skin that will also be usable in Fortnite. However, if gamers will truly desire to use it is another question, as there's only one Springfield vehicle the community is eager to drive, and this isn't it.

The Dream Vehicle

Although most gamers would undoubtedly love to face off behind the wheel of Homer's custom creation—the famously flawed car the patriarch designed himself in the 1991 installment "Oh Brother, Where Art Thou?"—that's not what's being offered. We aren't even receiving the massive SUV, the heavy-duty vehicle featured in season 10. Instead, players are getting the Simpsons' standard well-worn sedan, which they've been driving since 1989. Even though this particular car has seen better days, it remains an recognizable element of the show. For those who pay attention to Rocket League vehicle dimensions, the Simpson family car shares the same hitbox as the Dominus.

More Than Just a Car

But that's not the only customization item from the series coming to Rocket League. The event will additionally feature a series of objectives to earn additional rewards, all of which are Simpsons-themed. According to a official announcement, the challenges will task participants to "achieve a certain number of centers and clears as there are The Simpsons years on air, gather boost canisters as if your GPS is set to The Simpsons’ house, and drive a distance sufficient for picking up the perfect donuts!"

While the full lineup of challenge rewards hasn't been disclosed, here is what's been announced up to this point:

  • Blinky antenna topper
  • Homer's hedge-themed banner
  • Garbage-themed wheels
  • 20,000 experience points for each challenge

Based on promotional images is a reliable guide, it appears fans will also receive rims featuring a TV displaying the show's opening credits, Kang and Kodos topper, a frosted doughnut trail, and rocket boosts inspired by smoldering rubber and Krusty Burger.

Launch Dates and Crossover Details

This event lines up with the extensive The Simpsons invasion of Fortnite, which includes a completely new playable area of Springfield, as well as a 30-day seasonal progression system. The Rocket League x The Simpsons event begins on Saturday, Nov. 1 and ends on November 17th.
